Why we made this one
A first loose tooth is the first time a child's own body does something without asking them. The two questions that follow are always the same, and both are asked at bedtime: will it hurt, and what if I swallow it while I am asleep. The story answers both, plainly, in a grown-up's calm voice, and then lets the tooth take its time, because no tooth can be hurried and the waiting is the whole lesson.
There is no blood in it, and nothing is pulled. The child decides whether to wiggle it. The moment it goes is small and quick, on the tip of a toothbrush, and the reaction is relief rather than drama.
The night ritual is left open on purpose. The tooth goes somewhere the child chooses, the house goes quiet, and in the morning the world has done something. Nobody is named as the visitor, so the story fits a family with a fairy, a mouse, a keepsake box, or none of those.
