Why we made this one
Every potty story we could find is about the outcome. This one is about the signal. The interior cue arrives as a tingle or a small poke somewhere under the belly button, with no word attached to it, and noticing that is the entire skill. Everything else is logistics.
The sensory detail is all real and all from the research. The seat is cold. The bathroom echoes so every sound is twice as loud. And feet that do not reach the floor take a child's sense of the ground away, which is why the step stool is under their feet in every single scene rather than being scenery.
The grown-up does the most useful thing in the story by sitting down flat on the bathroom floor, back against the wall, not watching intently and not hurrying anybody. A child cannot find a muscle they have never been asked for while somebody stands over them.
There are no stickers, no charts and no good job anywhere. And the flush gets its own proper moment, because the swirl and the noise together are the part most children actually stall on, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
